Liteboats, Omnium Fun, 2 and 4 hour adventuring and a new Indoor Facility.
Liteboat arrival
So our eagerly awaited Liteboats finally arrived last week. Collected from France (just in the nick of quarantine time), then rigged at Neaves , we were straight on the water to test them out. Oh my!
We now have the ‘original’ (stable) LiteSport+, new LiteSport 1x and the LiteRace 1x. We also have a Swift 1x to compare.
Learn 2 Row
It’s been another few busy weeks with new Learn to Row Programmes starting and finishing. The progressive programme helps each rower find their confidence to skilfully and safely handle their boat. The stability of the GlieSolo makes learning easier and progression optimal.
Passport to Explore
Those juniors who have finished their L2R programme are now armed with their ‘Passport’ to Explore’ have started joining in the Omnium Fun sessions and the Adults have started Exploring.
Omnium Skills
This week’s session involved slalom and straight line racing, followed by capsize drill practice and some fun free time. It was SO warm out there…beaming smiles and a lot of laughter.
Adventuring
The adults (and some capable Juniors) who have achieved their ‘Passport to Explore’ have moved onto our adventuring sessions. We took a short adventure to Tanners Lane return, another along the sea wall to Saltern’s return and yesterday, we took a longer trip from Lymington to Keyhaven, stopping for a picnic at Hurst Castle before returning to Lym. Quick swim stops along the route were a must as it was so warm and muggy! We were supported by Molly 5, the mothership who carried our lunches and kept in radio contact throughout the trip. We have a meeting with Jason@ Hurst Castle regarding future trips there and using their facilities.
Explore with Friends and Family
It’s been great to meet some of our rower friends and families this summer, visiting Lymington and wanting to get afloat. A great way to share their sport with their pals. These bright boats are catching a lot of attention. We have many a spectator on the slipway watching the sessions unfold, with many a ‘when can I try it?’ from people of all ages…
We always recommend a 1:1 to get started (and assessed) , then we tailor your programme to suit your ability for the most efficient progression.
Some rowers need the steady pace of the full 4 session programme, others, particularly experienced water sports enthusiasts and crew rowers, get going very quickly.
Moving in….to temporary indoor facility
We have been very fortunate to be offered a temporary facility with both big Indoor and outdoor space. We are currently using the Indoor space to maintain and store our equipment but are plotting new ideas for an Indoor Row/ training option particularly when the wind and tide restrain our offerings on the water. The next week or so is looking very blustery…
Watch this space…poised in your lycra…for an alternate indoor option.
